The Alaska Public Safety Employees Association (PSEA) is currently seeking a Union Business Agent.  PSEA has effectively represented Alaska law enforcement personnel in a variety of labor and employment matters at the state and municipal levels since 1978. In addition, PSEA asserts itself in other issues that have a direct impact on public safety services. We are affiliated with the American Federation of State, county, and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO.
PSEA only represents law enforcement professionals. Our membership includes: Alaska State Troopers; Alaska Wildlife Troopers; Airport Police and Fire Officers at the Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports; Court Service Officers; Deputy Fire Marshals; Police Department Employees of the City and Borough of Juneau; Public Safety Employees of the City of Unalaska; Police Department Employees of the City and Borough of Sitka; Police Department Employees of the City of Fairbanks; Police Department Employees of the City of Ketchikan; and, Police Department Employees of the City of Soldotna.

DUTIES: Investigate, prepare, and process employee grievances and complaints, and assist association members with a wide variety of labor issues under supervision of the Executive Director.  Successful applicant must be able to apply contractual guidelines and ensure that member rights are protected.  Special consideration will be given to applicants with labor relations and grievance or arbitration experience. 

REQUIREMENTS: PSEA is seeking a proven labor leader with experience in all aspects of collective bargaining and contract administration. Bachelors Degree in human or labor relations, public administration, law, or a related field is preferred, but a substantial history of increasingly responsible experience in labor relations will be considered. Excellent analytical and communication skills are necessary. Computer skills, especially Microsoft Word/Outlook skills required. Excellent writing and interpersonal relationship skills required.  Considerable travel and evening work may be required.  Successful candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check. 

Salary and Benefits Package: The beginning annual salary for this position is from $58,500 to $65,500 depending on experience. PSEA also offers an outstanding fringe benefit package, including comprehensive insurance benefits and participation in a 401 (K) pension plan.  Salary dependent upon experience and education level.
