The Model Local Union
- All officer and executive board positions are filled — the group functions as a cohesive, unified team.
- Officers and members honor the constitution by following its structure and intent.
- The local engages in annual strategic planning to determine goals and crafts an action plan to achieve those goals.
- The local has an annual operating budget that reflects the plan’s priorities.
- Committee structure is in place to meet ongoing needs, including political action and internal organizing.
- Steward system is in place covering all work locations and shifts.
- Communication is ongoing.It includes:
- Greeting new workers and asking them to join the union and PEOPLE
- Publishing a regular newsletter
- Holding regular meetings
- Creating a one-on-one communication network (Member Action Team) capable of reaching every represented worker.
- Foundation or end result is to have an active and engaged membership.
