Are LPNs an endangered species?

We have heard of several hospitals that are eliminating LP/VN positions and replacing them either with RNs or a combination of RNs and aides. If this is happening where you work, please let us know. We are trying to get a sense of how prevalent the problem is.

Is your hospital going Magnet?

The number of facilities applying for Magnet recognition has skyrocketed in the last two years. We want to know how many AFSCME-represented hospitals have applied for or are considering applying for Magnet designation. And if you've been through the process, we'd love to hear what it was like.

Do you think your facility is doing it right?

We are looking for recruitment and retention "best practices" and examples of how employers and employees worked together at AFSCME-represented facilities. We'd like to compile the stories into a publication that could serve as a handbook for our nurses.
