Who Do We Trust? Nurses are Number One (Again)
The last issue of UNA Action reported that in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll, nurses topped the list of professions from the standpoint of public perception of honesty and ethics. And now, according to a Wall Street Journal Online/Harris Interactive Poll, nurses ranked first as the most trusted among health care providers.
When asked "How much do you trust each of the following to do the right thing for the health care of those for whom they have responsibility?" nurses scored higher than any of the other health care professionals, including doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
Not surprisingly, managed care and health insurance companies were at the bottom of the list, with more than half of those surveyed saying they have little or no faith in them.
The survey was conducted online in January among a cross section of more than 2,000 adults.
