Network Analyst III

This position in the Information Technology Department is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Microsoft server-based equipment that includes web-enabled public services such as Office 365, SharePoint, databases, and application servers. Also, various hardware platforms within the AFSCME network at headquarters and field locations.

Duties:

  • Installs operating systems and associated software tools for network components maintenance and monitoring.
  • Designs, develops, supports, and maintains the organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests, and maintains the system.
  • Manages and supports Office 365, Azure, and AWS-based systems.
  • Monitor Office 365, Azure, and AWS-based systems for security events, anomalies, and threats.
  • Installs hardware components associated with switches, networks, and servers.
  • Troubleshoots complex problems both internally and externally from remote sites.
  • Monitors, tests, and evaluates the performance of the Enterprise Infrastructure.
  • Installs various operating systems and their associated software tools for maintenance and monitoring the network components.
  • Mentors, trains, and coordinates work for junior IT staff.
  • Develops and implements projects utilizing outside contractors and internal staff to accomplish projects within given budgets and timelines.
  • Suggests ways to improve the department's procedures and standards based on process analysis and results evaluation, and information gained from external sources.
  • Keeps current on emerging technologies via professional organizations, technical or functional reference manuals and magazines, and other external sources, and advises and makes recommendations to IT management/staff.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science or a technical institution with certification in network management.
  • A minimum seven (7) years of direct experience in Microsoft networks and servers or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • Must have extensive skills and significant experience with installation customization and troubleshooting of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, and Terminal Services Servers.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience with server virtualization technologies, including VMware Sphere and Hyper V. Experience with Virtual management solutions such as VMware Virtual Center.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience working with Hybrid cloud Infrastructure.
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot Firewall policies.
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding Cyber Security.
  • Senior-level technician with certifications such as GSEC, Security+, SSCP, CCNA-Security, AWS, or Microsoft is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Mobile Device Management set-up and administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware selection, testing, and implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of emerging network and hardware technologies.
  • Ability to analyze complex network problems.
  • Strong ability to lead task forces and small work groups.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Extended Hours and Travel:

  • Evening or weekend work may be required if operational or emergency system needs arise.
  • Some travel may be required.
