Processes, reviews and inputs a variety of member level political contributions according to Union and department policies and standard operating procedures.  Uses one or more member level political contribution tracking systems, spreadsheets and word processing software to perform required tasks.  Communicates with staff by telephone, email and memos. Maintains records, logs, and files of transactions and activities. Performs other general clerical tasks as assigned.


The primary duties of the PAC System Clerk are data entry of member level political contributions into the political contribution tracking system.

  • Receive and sort incoming political contribution backup.
  • File all political contribution backup in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Input member level contribution data into political contribution tracking system.
  • Look up members in membership database to confirm member ID.
  • Verifies completion of batch entry before filing backup.
  • Add member data and/or update in political contribution tracking system.
  • Acts as a backup to the membership section for incoming calls.
  • Make daily trip(s) to the Accounting Department for retrieval of incoming batches.
  • Works with Accounting Department to reconcile backup issues
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent and one (1) year of bookkeeping or accounting coursework at the college level and a minimum of one (1) year experience in an automated accounting environment, performing a variety of tasks or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • Additional bookkeeping or accounting courses is desirable.
  • Knowledge of AFSCME's member level political contribution data systems.
  • Knowledge of data entry.
  • Communication skills sufficient to exchange routine information with staff and vendors.
  • Ability to input data to automated accounting and or tracking systems.
  • Moderate level Excel skills.
  • Ability to use a PC and MS Office software.
  • Overtime may be required.
