Regional Field Administrator
This position is responsible for efficiently coordinating the administration of area field service offices and organizing campaigns within an assigned region. Facilitates operational requests requiring AFSCME assistance or approval and ensures the compliance of requisite policies and procedures affecting all employees assigned to a region.
DUTIES:
- Discusses new or current field projects with Regional Director and executes specific instructions based on identified priorities. May convey project determinations to respective area directors along with appropriate action to take.
- Confirms project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements. Notes objectives and performance standards; prepares cost estimates; calculates time requirements and sequence of project elements.
- Monitors progress of projects, coordinates activities, and resolves problems. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and recommending actions.
- Assembles planning and financial control data by establishing and monitoring schedules and consolidating data. Analyzes and interprets data; makes comparative analyses; and identifies trends, provides forecasts and recommends actions.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling, assigning, and following up on work results and maintains project database.
- Coordinates with the various departments to obtain resource people from Headquarters to lend special assistance in areas such as field audits, education and training, communications and political action.
- May investigate officer suspensions and make recommendations for resolution.
- Serves as the major communications link within the assigned region on departmental programs and notices as well as provides information and materials on the activities and programs of other departments. Seeks out information from area directors to be used in developing regular and special reports for the region as well as submits summaries to the Director.
- Responds to member and affiliate inquiries by directing them to the most appropriate area director.
- May travel to assist and/or evaluate projects or potential projects.
- May attend special conferences and conventions sponsored by AFSCME or its affiliates. May attend the AFSCME Biennial Convention and support Organizing and Field Services' responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in labor studies or labor relations with a minimum of six (6) years of experience working for a labor/union and three years with AFSCME with knowledge of union operations and labor relations, or a combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

- Extensive experience in the field working with the development of union organizations.
- Experience with organizing, research, servicing members, and education.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, department heads, officials and the general public.
- Computer software knowledge to utilize a database and produce requisite reports.
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects and ensure completion of requisite milestones within established deadlines.

- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Travel and extended work hours may be required.
