WHEREAS:
Women's issues are of continuing concern to union members nationwide; and
WHEREAS:
Members benefit from the information provided at workshops and from sharing experiences with one another; and
WHEREAS:
Women's conferences provide a common ground for many members to gather, gain insight and exchange ideas relating to pertinent everyday concerns; and
WHEREAS:
Frequently single-parents are heads of households and are often women.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That the International Convention of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, convening in Chicago on June 23, 1986, direct its Executive Board to continue support for women's issues by sponsoring biennial regional women's conferences.
