WHEREAS:

In close elections, absentee ballots have made the difference between winning or losing; and

WHEREAS:

Conservative forces have years of experience with absentee ballots and have used them to their advantage; and

WHEREAS:

The use of absentee ballots helps not only senior citizens and those with disabilities exercise their right to vote, but also working men and women.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME will support changes to remove obstacles to absentee ballot voting; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

That AFSCME International assist locals and councils in educating its members on how to run effective absentee ballot programs.
