WHEREAS:
There is a global rising concern over the abuse of our environment; i.e., non recyclable printer cartridges, excessive use of paper, etc., utilization of materials that contribute to air and water pollution and utilization of materials that contribute to global warming; and

WHEREAS:  
There is a global rising concern over the exploitation of natural resources leading to air and water pollution; and

WHEREAS:
State agencies have justified exploitation of natural resources and abuse of the environment by implementing minimal recycling practices and other non-sustainable practices in their disposal of waste products.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
AFSCME International will work with employers to create more environmentally conscious and environmentally friendly work environments which promote pollution prevention and sustainable practices in the use of natural resources; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
AFSCME International urges its councils to work with employers to create more environmentally conscious work environments which advocate for pollution prevention and sustainable practices in the use of natural resources.
