WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in the world; and

WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart exploits working people around the world by putting PROFITS before PEOPLE; and

WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart has a proven record of being anti-union; and

WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart deprives their employees of adequate health benefits and livable wages; and

WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart’s presence in any community is detrimental; and

WHEREAS:
Wal-Mart has a very high employee turnover rate.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
AFSCME will continue to support the struggle of the Wal-Mart employees for dignity and respect and to work under livable conditions and to receive fair pay and health benefits; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
AFSCME will urge its members to abstain from making any purchases from Wal-Mart.
