WHEREAS:
Congress has passed a health care reform and health care coverage bill which is supposed to supply health care reform and health care coverage for the citizens of this country; and
WHEREAS:
The brothers and sisters of this union have knowledge and expertise in the areas of medical care and medical insurance which would be useful to establish best practices for health care reform and health care coverage; and
WHEREAS:
AFSCME also has brothers and sisters who have knowledge and expertise in the areas of medical care and medical insurance which would be useful to establish best practices for health care reform and health care coverage; and
WHEREAS:
The brothers and sisters of AFSCME and the AFL-CIO would also be a crucial resource in the further development of health care policy and practical application that would further this union and the labor movement.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
AFSCME affiliates are urged to establish a health care committee, made up of the health care and insurance professionals that are a part of this union, which would be a resource in addressing health care reform and health care coverage for its members; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That this resolution be forwarded to the AFSCME International Convention for consideration of adoption of this model for the betterment of its membership.
