WHEREAS:
We hold these truths to be self-evident that all workers are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of fair working conditions; and
WHEREAS:
Let it be known to a candid world, our grievances as follows:
- That we may not be fairly and adequately valued commensurate with our knowledge and experience.
- That we may be forced to endure excessive workloads.
- That we may be forced to endure dangerous working conditions.
- That we may not be given adequate and sufficient tools and resources.
- That we may be terminated without just cause; and
WHEREAS:
Such grievances have repeatedly fallen on deaf ears; and
WHEREAS:
It is the right of the workers to collectively bargain in good faith with their employers.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
We, public sector workers of the United States of America, at our forty-third biennial Convention, fully exercising our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly, hereby re-declare our right to form a more perfect labor union, and that we re-confirm our membership in the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
For the support of this declaration, we mutually re-pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our honor.
