International Service Agencies

International Executive Board, 1987

WHEREAS:

International Service Agencies (ISA) is an organization that supports a diversity of projects aimed at helping 110,000,000 impoverished in more than 100 nations throughout the world; and

WHEREAS:

ISA is a participating agency in combined charitable campaigns in a number of states, therefore making it possible for AFSCME members and other donors to contribute a portion of their income to aid needy people not only in this country but elsewhere in the world; and

WHEREAS:

ISA member agencies provide education and training to impoverished people to help the needy to feed and clothe themselves.

NOW THEN BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

AFSCME endorse the International programs provided by ISA; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:

AFSCME urge combined charitable campaigns which do not now permit ISA participation to act at once to add ISA to the list of agencies included in the campaign; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED THAT:

The International Executive Board encourage AFSCME Councils and Locals to cooperate with ISA in its efforts to gain admission to combined charitable campaigns in their respective states and communities.
