Leonard Ball

International Executive Board, 1991

WHEREAS:

Leonard Ball has made his life and career an exemplary demonstration of service and leadership in his community; and,

WHEREAS:

For 19 years Leonard Ball served as executive assistant to the Secretary-Treasurer of AFSCME; and,

WHEREAS:

In his service to AFSCME Leonard Ball constantly brought his experience and sensitivity to bear on the problems — internal and external — that face any large, growing and dynamic trade union; and,

WHEREAS:

Aside from his basic role as deputy to the Secretary-Treasurer, a major part of Leonard Ball's responsibility and contribution to the American labor movement was his participation in the creation and nurturing of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists to the point where it is the premier organization in the United States for Black trade union activists; and,

WHEREAS:

Leonard Ball has earned a well-deserved retirement after an unblemished record of service and achievement.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The International Executive Board express its respect and appreciation to Leonard Ball on the occasion of his retirement; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:

A copy of this resolution suitably inscribed and framed be presented to Leonard Ball as an indication of the affection the International Executive Board holds for its comrade in arms the past 19 years.
