Resolution of appreciation: Robert A. Brindza

International Executive Board, 1991

WHEREAS:

Robert A. Brindza has served his fellow workers and the labor movement for more than 40 years; and,

WHEREAS:

For the past 25 years Robert Brindza has made his trade union commitment and talents available to the members of AFSCME; and,

WHEREAS:

During the past quarter century Robert Brindza has moved through his AFSCME career from his beginning as a staff representative and International Union Area Director to President of AFSCME Council 8 in Ohio and International Vice President of AFSCME; and,

WHEREAS:

Robert Brindza served as the first executive director of AFSCME Council 8 in Ohio, presiding over the building of a new and united AFSCME in that state; and,

WHEREAS:

During that time Robert Brindza has played a major role in the tremendous growth of AFSCME in Ohio, including the successful efforts to achieve collective bargaining for state employees; and,

WHEREAS:

With Robert Brindza's leadership and guidance affiliations were achieved that brought AFSCME membership in Ohio to more than 100,000; and,

WHEREAS:

With characteristic directness and foresight Robert Brindza prepared for and announced his retirement assuring an orderly transition guaranteeing that AFSCME would remain united and strong in Ohio.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The AFSCME International Executive Board, meeting for the first time in 15 years without Robert Brindza as a member, salutes his retirement and acknowledges his service to our union; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:

The International Executive Board expresses to Robert Brindza their deep admiration for the experience and wisdom he made available to the AFSCME leadership, which will be missed; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:

The International Executive Board offers best wishes to Robert Brindza and his wife, Marian, with the hope that they will enjoy a long and rewarding retirement together; and,

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED THAT:

A copy of this resolution, suitably inscribed, be prepared for presentation to Robert Brindza at an appropriate occasion as a symbol of the respect and affection in which he is held by the International Executive Board.
