As we enter the final sprint to Election Day, a small number of states – including AZ, GA, MI, NV, PA, WI and NE’s 2nd congressional district – will likely determine the outcome of this year’s presidential contest. AFSCME is all-in on turning out working people for Vice President Kamala Harris in each of these states.
But a much longer list of competitive districts could determine control of the U.S. House. As we enter this final push, I am keeping a particularly close eye on:
- Mary Peltola (AK-AL)
- Adam Gray (CA-13)
- Rudy Salas (CA-22)
- George Whitesides (CA-27)
- Joe Kerr (CA-40)
- Will Rollins (CA-41)
- Derek Tran (CA-45)
- Dave Min (CA-47)
- Christina Bohannon (IA-01)
- Lanon Baccam (IA-03)
- Hilary Scholten (MI-03)
- Curtis Hertel (MI-07)
- Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08)
- Carl Marlinga (MI-10)
- Angie Craig (MN-02)
- Gabe Vasquez (NM-02)
- Susie Lee (NV-03)
- Steven Horsford (NV-04)
- John Avlon (NY-01)
- Tom Suozzi (NY-03)
- Pat Ryan (NY-18)
- John Mannion (NY-22)
- Greg Landsman (OH-01)
- Marcy Kaptur (OH-09)
- Emilia Sykes (OH-13)
- Susan Wild (PA-07)
- Matt Cartwright (PA-08)
- Janelle Stelson (PA-10)
- Chris Deluzio (PA-17)
- Peter Barca (WI-01)
- Rebecca Cooke (WI-03)
We also continue to lean in for electing pro-worker candidates to the U.S. Senate including Sherrod Brown (OH), Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Elissa Slotkin (MI), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Bob Casey (PA), Jacky Rosen (NV), Ruben Gallego (AZ), Dan Osborn (NE) and Jon Tester (MT), as well as other AFSCME-endorsed state and local candidates across the country such as the Washington state gubernatorial election and the Pennsylvania attorney general race. State legislative chambers continue to be critical for AFSCME and working families. We’re watching those races in the Michigan House, the Pennsylvania House and Senate, the Minnesota House, the Wisconsin Assembly and the Arizona House and Senate.
As we mobilize members in the field, AFSCME field programs continue to educate members about races up and down the ballot through in-person conversations (using literature like that available here), phone, text, mail, digital and more.
