With just 90 days remaining until the 2026 midterm election, I wanted to offer my thoughts on the current landscape and some of the races I’m looking at with particular interest.

Control of the US House is very much in play, and it appears that Democrats are positioned to win a majority in November. While a lot of attention (deservedly so) is being paid to the Harris/GOP seats and the DCCC’s long standing red-to -blue list, there are a few other races in which I’m taking particular interest:

AK-AL. Bill Hill is an independent with strong union roots.

CA-6. Dr. Richard Pan is an AFSCME member who would bring a strong labor perspective to Congress.

CA-22. Randy Villegas is another candidate with strong union ties (UAW member)

IA-2. As a state legislator, Lindsay James always had the backs of working people. She will bring that dedication to Congress.

Despite a favorable map for Republicans this year, the current landscape presents an opportunity for Democrats to flip control of the US Senate. While Democrats need to protect their most vulnerable seats in Michigan, Georgia and New Hampshire, they would need to flip 4 other seats in order to gain outright control. The Senate races I’m watching most are:

AK – Mary Peltola is a strong candidate who has always had our back and will fight to unrig the economy for working class folks.

OH – Sherrod Brown. A true champion of unions.

ME – Troy Jackson is a union backed champion. As state senate President he constantly stood up for working families and never backed down.

IA – Josh Turek has a strong record of supporting working families in the state legislature.

There are so many Governor’s races this year that I’ll save until next time a deeper dive on these, but a few of particular interest to me include:

Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Ohio, Iowa and Arizona

We have also been paying more attention to critical Attorneys General races in recent elections. Three races of note to me are in:

MN – Keith Ellison

AZ – Kris Mayes

NV – Nicole Cannizzaro
