Kavanaugh’s Pro-Corporate Agenda is a Major Disqualification
The danger is clear: If Brett Kavanaugh ends up on the U.S. Supreme Court, the court’s core principles of equal justice and the right to a fair hearing will continue to be eroded, according to AFSCME President Lee Saunders.
“If he is confirmed, it will further tip the scales of justice in favor of the privileged and powerful,” he says in a new video. “The record is overwhelmingly clear – time and time again, Judge Kavanaugh has chosen to advance an extreme pro-corporate agenda from the bench.”
Kavanaugh’s appointment to the court would only accelerate a trend that’s seen the rights of women, immigrant communities, people of color, LGBT Americans, and working people ignored, their freedoms increasingly dismissed and denied.
“We can’t afford another justice who will be a rubber stamp for those that want to rig the rules of our economy. CEOs and billionaires already have a voice on the Supreme Court. What we need is a justice who will give a voice to everyone else,” said Saunders.
He also stressed that the sexual assault allegations made by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, a California psychology professor, should be fully investigated “as part of a fair, thorough and non-partisan process.”
These are just a few reasons why a Kavanaugh appointment is so dangerous.
We have to take action now.
