Like most Americans, public service workers look forward to the promise of affordable health care and a dignified retirement after a lifetime of hard work, responsibility, and sacrifice. That’s probably why candidate Donald Trump repeatedly pledged not to cut Medicare or Social Security.
But it’s looking doubtful that President Trump will be able to keep that promise. The man he has chosen to oversee our nation’s health care system, Tom Price, believes tax cuts for the wealthy are more important than health and retirement security for working families.
The Senate plans to vote on Price’s nomination in the pre-dawn hours Friday.
Rep. Tom Price has supported raising the Medicare eligibility age and replacing guaranteed benefits with vouchers that mean more and more money out of seniors’ pockets every year.
The drastic Medicaid cuts he supports would mean some seniors and people with disabilities will lose access to home care and nursing homes. They would also mean job losses for the many public service workers who provide long-term care. The Social Security cuts he has advocated could force more retirees into poverty.
Those are not the priorities America voted for. And it doesn’t honor the commitment you’ve shown to your community.
Call your senators today and tell them to vote NO on Tom Price.
