AFSCME Knocks Trump Administration’s Continued Efforts To Eliminate Care For Millions of Americans
WASHINGTON — Today, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in the high-profile lawsuit that threatens to kick millions of Americans off their health care, Texas v. Azar. In response, AFSCME President Lee Saunders released the following statement:
“Americans have spoken decisively at the ballot box: they want to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and give more people access to the health care they need. But the Trump administration and its political allies shamefully continue to use the courts to jeopardize the health care of millions of people. This case threatens to roll back the progress we’ve made, returning to a time when insurance companies could impose lifetime caps and discriminate against women, older Americans and people with preexisting conditions. Health care is a right and not a privilege. It’s time to protect and expand that right for everyone.”
