AFSCME endorses New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for reelection

WASHINGTON – The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), a union of 1.4 million public service workers nationwide, including more than 400,000 public and private sector workers in New York, today announced its endorsement of New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for reelection.

“Comptroller DiNapoli has been a steadfast ally of New York’s public service workers,” said AFSCME President Lee Saunders. “He understands that strong pensions, fair wages, and good benefits are essential for the dedicated men and women who keep our state running. AFSCME is proud to stand with him as he continues his work protecting the retirement security of more than one million New Yorkers and ensuring the integrity of our state’s finances.”

As New York State Comptroller, DiNapoli oversees the state’s $267 billion pension fund — the third-largest in the country — and serves as the chief fiscal officer of the State of New York.
