Saunders: Sen. Feinstein was a pioneer and gifted legislator

AFSCME President Lee Saunders released the following statement on the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein:

“AFSCME mourns the loss of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a giant of the U.S. Senate and American politics. For decades, she served California and the nation with steely toughness. She was a gifted legislator, who blazed a trail on issues like women’s rights, civil liberties, consumer protection, gun safety and LGBTQ equality. Because of her profound respect for Californians and her instinctive understanding of their priorities, her constituent service was second to none. She was a feminist pioneer, kicking open doors for women to follow her example and serve at all levels of government. The nation is stronger and fairer because of her leadership. Rest in peace, senator.”
