WHEREAS:
Voter alienation and frustration is at an all-time high in 1992; and
WHEREAS:
The deep and abiding cause of American frustration is the economic morass we find ourselves in, a morass that we will only escape by electing a President with a real economic plan and a Congress willing to work cooperatively on that plan.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That AFSCME will educate our members about the real economic issues facing American workers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That AFSCME condemns the trivialization of the Presidential campaign process by the media and by minor candidates looking for publicity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That AFSCME rejects one-shot solutions born out of political frustration solutions such as term limits, new political parties and third party presidential candidates; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED:
That AFSCME dedicates our union to elect a President with a real economic plan and a Congress willing to work cooperatively with that President.
