Today we're launching the first episode of our new podcast for all AFSCME members: About That AFSCME Life.

Why a podcast? Because AFSCME members have stories to tell. Stories of service to our communities. Stories of fighting for our rights. Stories of what being an AFSCME member has meant to us.

About That AFSCME Life brings you the stories of your sisters and brothers right to you. (If you're new to podcasts, check out this guide for more information on what they are and how to listen.)

In our first episode, we talk about health care. Recent proposals to change the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid could mean big changes to your family's health care. We talk to Susan Rowe, a nurse who belongs to Local 2990 (Council 61) in Iowa, and Lakeesha Dumas, a certified recovery mentor who’s a member of Local 88 (Oregon Council 75), about the impact on their public service.

In every episode, we'll also talk about the benefits to being an AFSCME member, as well share some fun union facts.

Listen to the first episode here.

We'll have subscription links available soon. We'd love to hear your ideas for future podcasts. You can send suggestions and ideas to podcast@afscme.org.
