WASHINGTON – AFSCME President Patrick Moran released the following statement in response to the temporary restraining order protecting election officials from prosecution:
“This decision is a resounding win for the election workers who make our democracy happen and for all Americans’ freedom to vote. We applaud the court for granting a temporary restraining order protecting election workers from unlawful prosecution simply for following the law and forbidding the administration from interfering with the lawful administration of elections. Now, our nation’s nonpartisan election workers, many of them AFSCME members, can continue to do their jobs, and our elections can continue to proceed freely and fairly.”
