WASHINGTON — AFSCME President Lee Saunders released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Nicole Berner to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit:

She has dedicated her career to ensuring the fair and just treatment of working people before the law, and her experience will be invaluable on the federal bench. With a rising wave of organizing spurring more cases involving workers’ rights, it is critical that we have judges like Nicole Berner who understand the importance of empowering working people with a voice on the job and a seat at the table.
